How Roulette, Blackjack, and Baccarat Play Differently

They sit next to each other in every  insta match 365 casino lobby and get lumped together as "table games." They behave nothing alike.

The differences aren't cosmetic. They sit in the maths — how much the house takes, how much your decisions matter, how fast the money moves, and how wildly results swing. Understanding those four things tells you more about the experience than any description of the felt and the cards.

Here's where each game actually diverges.

Roulette: no decisions after the bet

Roulette is the purest form of the three. Once your chips are down, nothing you do affects the outcome. There's no strategy, no skill element, no decision to get right.

That's not a criticism — it's the appeal for some people. What matters is the wheel.

European wheels have a single zero, giving a house edge of about 2.7%. American wheels add a double zero, which pushes the edge to roughly 5.26% — nearly double, for what looks like a trivial difference in layout. French wheels with the "la partage" or "en prison" rule can halve the edge on even-money bets.

Payouts are fixed. A single number pays 35 to 1. Red or black pays even money. There's no variation and no decision.

The consequence of all that: your expected loss is entirely determined by which wheel you're at and how much you stake. Nothing else. Over a session, the only variable you control is how long you play.

Pace is moderate. A spin takes a minute or so, and each one is independent of the last — there's no memory in the wheel, whatever the display board suggests.

Blackjack: the decisions are the game

Blackjack is the outlier, because what you do changes the house edge.

Played badly, blackjack is a worse bet than European roulette. Played well — using basic strategy, which is a published chart of correct plays for every hand combination — the edge drops to somewhere around 0.5%, depending on the table's rules. That's a five-fold swing, and it's entirely down to the player.

That's why blackjack attracts the people it does. It's the only one of the three where studying changes the outcome.

But three things complicate it.

Rule variations matter enormously. How many decks, whether the dealer stands or hits on soft 17, whether doubling after splitting is allowed, blackjack payout odds — each shifts the edge by a fraction, and they add up. Two tables that look identical can differ by more than a percentage point.

The edge assumes perfect play. Most people don't play perfectly, particularly after a few drinks or when a hand "feels" like it should be hit. Every deviation from basic strategy costs something.

Pace is slow. Fewer hands per hour than the other two, which reduces exposure per hour but also reduces the rate at which anything happens.

Variance is lower than roulette on flat stakes, because you're winning roughly 43% of hands rather than 1 in 37.

Baccarat: fewer choices, lower edge, faster money

Baccarat looks complicated — the third-card rules are genuinely fiddly — and it's the simplest of the three to actually play.

You choose Player, Banker or Tie. Then you wait. The drawing rules are automatic; there are no decisions to make.

That's the whole game. And the maths is unusually favourable by casino standards:

Banker carries a house edge of about 1.06%, after the standard 5% commission on winnings. It's one of the lowest edges in the building.

Player is around 1.24%.

Tie is roughly 14.4% — one of the worst bets available anywhere, despite the tempting 8-to-1 payout. It's where casual players lose most of their money.

The trade-off for the low edge is pace. Baccarat hands resolve quickly, so you're making more decisions per hour even though each individual decision is trivial. Low edge multiplied by high volume still produces a meaningful expected loss over an evening.

Variance is relatively low on Banker and Player, and brutal on Tie.

The four differences that actually matter

House edge. Over a session, this is the number that determines expected loss. European roulette 2.7%, blackjack 0.5% to 2% depending on rules and play, baccarat Banker 1.06%. The gap between the best and worst of those is not small.

Decision points. Roulette zero, baccarat zero (one selection aside), blackjack dozens per session. More decisions means more places to get it right — and more places to get it wrong.

Pace. Baccarat fastest, roulette moderate, blackjack slowest. Pace multiplies edge: a 1% edge over 200 hands costs more than a 3% edge over 40.

Variance. How far your balance swings around the expected result. Roulette is spiky because single-number bets pay 35 to 1. Blackjack is flatter. Baccarat sits low on the main bets and violently high on Tie.

Where the platform question comes in

None of the above changes based on where you play. The rules of the games are the games.

What changes is everything else — whether the platform is licensed, whether the terms are clear, and whether a withdrawal arrives. If you encounter these games under a name like instamatch 365.com, that's the part worth checking before anything else, because the game mechanics are standard and the operator is not.

Two practical notes on the name itself. Typing instamatch365 com with a space instead of a dot isn't an address — browsers will usually treat it as a search query, and search results include sponsored listings formatted to look like ordinary ones. Type it properly, or better, verify the domain once and save it so you're never arriving through a search.

And whatever the platform, check the three things that determine whether any of this matters: a named operator, a stated licence, and withdrawal terms you can read before depositing. Games with a 1% house edge still cost you everything if the balance can't be withdrawn.

India's online gaming rules have also narrowed — the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, in force since May 2026, prohibits online money games pan-India, with rules varying by state. Worth establishing before anything else.
