The transthyretin amyloidosis, or ATTR, market is growing as awareness improves, diagnostic technologies advance, and new targeted therapies become available. The market was valued at USD 2.82 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 5.8 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 9.42%. 1177

ATTR amyloidosis is a rare, progressive condition caused by misfolded transthyretin protein that forms amyloid deposits in tissues and organs. These deposits can affect the heart, nerves, gastrointestinal system, and other areas of the body. The disease may occur in hereditary forms caused by variants in the transthyretin gene or in wild-type forms, which are more commonly associated with ageing.

Cardiac amyloidosis is the larger patient-type segment because ATTR deposits can affect the heart muscle and contribute to restrictive cardiomyopathy, heart failure symptoms, rhythm disturbances, and reduced physical capacity. Polyneuropathy is also an important disease manifestation and may involve numbness, weakness, pain, autonomic symptoms, and mobility challenges.

Earlier diagnosis is a major market priority. ATTR can be difficult to identify because its symptoms may resemble more common cardiac or neurological conditions. Genetic testing, nuclear imaging, cardiac MRI, echocardiography, laboratory tests, and biopsy in selected cases can help specialists establish a diagnosis.

Treatment innovation is changing the market. Transthyretin stabilizers are designed to help stabilize the protein, while RNA-interference and antisense therapies aim to reduce production of transthyretin. These approaches are creating more options for patients, though treatment choice depends on disease type, severity, regulatory approval, access, and specialist assessment.

Intravenous treatment currently holds the largest administration share, while subcutaneous therapies are expected to grow more quickly because they may provide greater convenience and reduce administration burden for eligible patients.

North America leads the market due to advanced rare-disease infrastructure, specialist centers, and access to innovative therapies. Europe is also a major market, while Asia-Pacific is expected to grow as rare-disease awareness and diagnostic capabilities improve.
