Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Market – Advanced Devices Support Heart Failure Management

The cardiac resynchronization therapy, or CRT, market is growing as the prevalence of heart failure rises and healthcare providers adopt advanced implantable devices to help improve cardiac coordination in selected patients. The market was valued at USD 4.22 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 7.7 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 7.8%. 1180

Heart failure occurs when the heart cannot pump blood effectively enough to meet the body’s needs. Some patients with heart failure also have abnormal electrical conduction that causes the heart’s chambers to beat out of sync. CRT uses an implanted pacing device to help coordinate heart contractions and improve pumping efficiency for appropriately selected patients.

Transvenous implantation accounts for more than 85% of market revenue because it is less invasive than epicardial implantation. In a transvenous procedure, leads are typically placed through veins into the heart. Epicardial placement involves attaching leads to the outer surface of the heart and may be considered when transvenous placement is not suitable.

Cardiac resynchronization defibrillators, or CRT-D devices, are expected to hold a large market share because they combine resynchronization pacing with defibrillation capability for selected patients at risk of dangerous heart rhythms. Cardiac resynchronization pacemakers, or CRT-P devices, are also important for heart-failure management.

Lithium-ion batteries lead the battery segment because of their energy density, long lifespan, and ability to support continuous device function. Remote monitoring is becoming increasingly important, enabling clinicians to review device data and identify potential issues without requiring frequent in-person visits.

Minimally invasive surgery is the fastest-growing procedural segment. Smaller devices, improved lead technology, wireless systems, and advances in implantation techniques are helping reduce procedural burden and improve patient experience.

North America leads the CRT market due to advanced cardiovascular infrastructure, high heart-failure prevalence, and broad access to implantable-device therapy. Asia-Pacific is expected to expand as cardiac-care facilities, reimbursement systems, and awareness of heart-failure treatment improve.
