Gurubhai247 covers Sri Lanka’s commanding 75-run victory over Indonesia in their second Women’s Asia Cup fixture on Wednesday, September 2. Despite being reduced to 62/6, Sri Lanka recovered strongly to post 124/7 before captain Chamari Athapaththu produced a remarkable spell to bowl Indonesia out for just 49.

The sri lanka vs indonesia encounter saw Sri Lanka face early trouble after Indonesia chose to bowl first. Imesha Dulani was dismissed in the second over, and Indonesia’s spinners continued to create pressure with accurate bowling and occasional low bounce.

By the eighth over, Sri Lanka had slipped to 36/4. The situation became even more difficult when they reached 62/6, but Nilakshika Silva provided the stability they desperately needed. Batting at No. 6, Silva patiently rebuilt the innings before accelerating late in the innings.

Silva went 43 balls without hitting a boundary but eventually changed gears. She used the depth of her crease and targeted the shorter side of the ground, hitting boundaries off Ni Ariani before adding a reverse scoop and a six. Her fifty came soon after, marking her third T20I half-century. She was dismissed from the following delivery, but Sri Lanka had already reached a competitive 124/7.

Indonesia started their chase positively, but Sri Lanka’s introduction of spin quickly changed the momentum. Athapaththu struck first by bowling Pangestuti, while Sugandika Dilhari also kept attacking the stumps and removed Dewi.

Athapaththu then produced an extraordinary spell with her off-spin. She took two wickets in two deliveries before Dilhari dismissed Wulandari, leaving Indonesia at 29/5 after 10 overs.

The second phase of Athapaththu’s spell was even more destructive. She dismissed Ni Ariani, Maypriani and Paramitha in succession to complete Sri Lanka’s first-ever Women’s T20I hat-trick. Her final figures of 7/5 were the best by a Sri Lankan bowler in Women’s T20Is and also represented a career-best performance.

Indonesia were eventually bowled out for 49 in 18.3 overs. Suwandewi top-scored with 12, while Pangestuti made 10, but the hosts could not recover from the relentless Sri Lankan bowling attack.

For Gurubhai247 readers following sri lanka vs indonesia, the match showcased Sri Lanka’s ability to recover from serious batting pressure before dominating with the ball. Silva’s fighting half-century and Athapaththu’s historic seven-wicket haul were the defining performances as Sri Lanka continued their winning campaign.
