Upgrading Your ESEE with a Blade Tech MOLLE Lok
ESEE Knives come with great sheaths, by and large. Most of them come with molded thermoplastic sheaths that offer an excellent friction fit, excellent retention, and which can be rigged in a variety of different ways. Even those that don’t, come with high quality leather knife sheaths.
On top of that fact that most come with clip plates that let the sheath easily be rigged for tip-down carry on a belt, with a bit of paracord and some ingenuity, you can also rig those sheaths for pack carry, scout carry, or other configurations.
Of course, there are easier ways around jury-rigging a solution, too. Case in point, the MOLLE Loks from Blade Tech, some of which are compatible with select ESEE knife sheaths. Here’s what to know.
The Versatility of ESEE Knife Sheaths
One of the great things about the thermoplastic knife sheaths with which most ESEE Knives are issued is that they feature a perforated margin.
This means, among other things, that with a length of cordage and a cord lock (or just some knot-tying acumen) they can be rigged for compatibility with a MOLLE system, or just lashed to a pack or rigged for carry on a belt in a horizontal configuration.
This is easy enough to do and can be done at home without special tools or knowledge, but at the same time, there are easier ways to configure your ESEE knife sheaths for carrying MOLLE equipment. Blade Tech offers some of the best options.
The Blade Tech MOLLE Lok Advantage
If you have an ESEE 3, 4, 5, or 6, Blade Tech makes MOLLE Loks that are directly compatible with sheaths for these knives and which enable them to easily be mounted to a MOLLE system.
They come not just with the spring-latch MOLLE locks themselves, but also the hardware you need to make the modification, which includes philipshead screws and T-nuts.
These MOLLE Loks are compatible not just with MOLLE packs and pouches, but with MOLLE/PALS body armor and similar equipment.
They are easy to install and configure and made to a high-standard of quality in a rugged, durable black polymer. There’s no easier way to configure your ESEE knife’s sheath for compatibility with MOLLE equipment.
One note here is that they cannot be rigged for horizontal carry without additional modification, but that is still something you can do if you want to. It’ll just take a few extra steps.
