This variant of the M40 was also equipped with a match-grade, suppressor-compatible Schneider stainless steel barrel that, while remaining relatively low on maintenance requirements, still delivered exceptional accuracy and consistency in terms of performance. 

It’s also outfitted with a Remington M24 precision single-stage trigger that is crisp and consistent, meeting the needs of long-range shooters and other competitive shooters in more ways than one. 

While these changes make the M40A6 appear quite distinct from the original M40 rifle platform, it is still built around the Remington 700 action and is paired with 7.62x51mm NATO as a chambering. This makes it strong, reliable, and accurate, and the cartridge is an available and accessible one that is suitable for long-range shooting. 

This variant of the M40 just might be the best one for extreme long-range shooting and other competitive disciplines. You just need to know where to get one.
