Jio IPO Subscription Status: Final Category-Wise Numbers Explained
The Jio IPO closed roughly 21 to 22 times subscribed. See the QIB, NII and retail numbers and what they mean.
The Jio IPO closed on October 23 with heavy institutional demand.
The final picture
Trackers reported overall subscription of about 21 to 22 times at close. QIBs bid roughly 65 to 71 times their quota, non-institutional investors about 14 times, and retail investors about 2.7 times . NSE data cited by The Week showed more than 20 times overall, with over 406 crore bids against about 19.75 crore shares on offer.
How demand built
Day-wise reports showed overall subscription rising from about 3 times on Day 1 to about 5.4 times on Day 2, then jumping on the final day as institutions bid late.
What each category means
- QIB: institutions with a large quota. High demand shows professional interest.
- NII: high-net-worth and other non-institutional investors.
- Retail: individuals bidding up to the retail limit.
Reading the numbers
A high headline multiple does not mean everyone gets shares. Retail allotment depends on the retail multiple and the lottery.
Why late bidding is normal
Institutions often bid near the close, so Day 3 numbers move sharply.
