Mali came from four goals down to earn a sensational draw with the hosts in the opening game of the African Nations Cup, on Sunday. Despite being ahead for seventy nine minutes, Angola let a four goal lead drop in the final third of the game.Manuel Joses men went ahead in the thirty seventh minute when a diving header from the Saudi Arabian based striker Flavio Amado hit the back of the net. Shortly afterwards, he doubled the hosts advantage with another flying header from defender Mabinas excellent cro s.After a large stint of play, the home side had another chance to increase their lead to three Kent Bazemore Jersey goals from the spot kick. Sebastiao Gilberto stepped up to the spot and converted for his first goal of the African Nation Cup campaign. With only sixteen minutes of normal time left, the hosts were rewarded a second penalty and the skipper converted it into Angolas fourth and final goal of the night giving the hosts a firm grasp of the game and surely the victory?Despite being four goals down, Mali bo s Stephen Keshi still thought the game could be salvaged and one player agreed with him, the thirty four minute substitute Seydou Keita. The Barcelona mid-fielder, who has scored fifteen goals in just over fifty games, started the Eagles come back by taking advantage of a mistake from Carlos Fernandes to at least make sure that The Black Antelopes wouldnt have kept a clean sheet but that goal ment much more than that -it ment the start of a remarkable comeback. The comeback later continued when Frederic Kanoute glanced home a fine header to halve the deficit in the 87th minute. With the fans confidence growing, Keita got his second of the night in stoppage time and Mustapha Yatabare grabbed a last-gasp equaliser to complete the stunning comeback. In my person opinion I believe that Angola were the better team on the night, as the hosts dominated up and till the seventy ninth when Mali turned the game on its head but I believe that Angola must have been exhausted by the final third as their defence was infiltrated too much. I think this game is just a preview of whats to come in a brilliant African Cup Of Nations.Angola: Fernandes, A.Costa, C.
