Market Valuation & Growth: What the Numbers Imply

Moving from USD 62.7 billion in 2023 to USD 94.3 billion in 2026 means the mHealth market grows by roughly 50% in three years. The more useful figure is what comes next. The climb from USD 94.3 billion in 2026 to USD 158.3 billion in 2030 adds about USD 64.0 billion, which is more than the whole market was worth in 2023. By 2030 the industry will be about 2.5 times its 2023 size.

We are now in November 2026, so the USD 94.3 billion estimate is effectively the current-year benchmark. That makes the next four years the real expansion window rather than a distant forecast.

A Fragmented Market With Heavy Deal Activity

Grand View Research describes the mHealth market as fragmented. Many small players are launching new products, innovation is high and M&A activity is high. Regulatory impact is medium and geographic expansion is low. In my reading, high fragmentation combined with frequent acquisitions usually points to consolidation. Google’s October 2022 purchase of a University of Washington start-up that built a breathing-monitoring app is one example. Telefonica Tech’s acquisition of the data analytics firm Incremental to expand its Microsoft-technology offering in the UK is another.

Leading Segments: Apps Lead, Patients Pull

Component View

mHealth apps accounted for over 50% of revenue in 2023 and are projected to post the fastest CAGR through 2030. Their use cases include remote patient monitoring, medication management, disease tracking, fitness and wellbeing, women’s health and personal health records. The services segment is expected to record the second-fastest CAGR. It covers health monitoring, wearables that track vital signs and telemedicine platforms for remote consultations.

The category is crowded but not saturated. More than 350,000 health apps were available as of early 2022, yet only 3 in 10 adults aged 50 to 80 had used at least one. Most people in that age group had not tried one, which is untapped headroom.

End-Use View

The patient segment held the largest share in 2023 and is forecast to grow at 15.2% CAGR, ahead of the overall 14.1%. This is a consumer-led market. Patients adopt first, and providers follow to keep pace. Providers still hold a significant share, supported by telemedicine and digital therapeutics. A BMC Health report found that 82% of healthcare providers use mobile phones for patient engagement. The base is large too: 6.8 billion smartphone users worldwide in 2023, projected to reach 7.34 billion by 2025.

Key Regions: Where Scale Meets Speed

North America accounted for nearly 40% of global revenue in 2023, and the U.S. alone held above 85% of the regional market. About 82.2% of Americans owned smartphones in 2023. Adults aged 65 and above numbered nearly 58 million, or 17.3% of the population, a share expected to reach 22% by 2040.

Europe’s growth is also shaped by ageing. In January 2023, 21.3% of the EU’s 448.8 million people were aged 65 or older. Germany spent 12.8% of GDP on healthcare in 2021, and its 65-plus population is expected to reach 24 million by 2050.

Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing region at 15.2% CAGR. Unique mobile subscriptions in the region reached 1.73 billion by the end of 2022. China had 1.067 billion internet users as of December 2022, a penetration rate of 75.6%. In the Middle East and Africa, Saudi Arabia is still at a nascent stage of mHealth adoption. About 92% of its population has access to or owns a smartphone, and the country had 33.55 million smartphone users in 2024.

The pattern is that ageing populations and chronic care needs drive demand in the West, while connectivity and device penetration drive it in the East.

Core Drivers: Demand Pull and Supply Push

Devices and connectivity. Smartphone penetration is projected to rise from 76% in 2022 to 92% by 2030. Mobile connections are expected to grow from 5.4 billion to 6.3 billion, or 73% of the global population. Every new connected user is a potential mHealth user.

Patient-centric care. Healthcare is shifting from provider-centric to patient-centric models. Patients now expect medical records access, medication reminders, wellness programs and remote consultations on their phones.

Chronic disease. Diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and obesity are cited as key demand factors, because they require continuous monitoring rather than occasional visits.

Policy and capital. Government awareness campaigns and healthcare IT funding are supporting adoption. Global health-tech investment passed USD 44 billion in 2021, double the previous year’s level.

AI and platform innovation. Google’s Open Health Stack, launched in March 2023, helps developers build health apps with AI-assisted cancer screening. In October 2023, Cedars-Sinai launched an AI-enabled app offering same-day primary care booking and 24/7 virtual specialist access.

These drivers reinforce each other. Devices and patient demand pull the market forward, while capital and AI push new products into it.

Who Competes in the mHealth Market

The competitive field mixes device makers, telecom operators and health IT firms. Apple, Google and Samsung Electronics bring consumer devices and platforms. Telefonica, Vodafone, Orange and AT&T bring network reach. Qualcomm, Veradigm, AirStrip Technologies, SoftServe and SeekMed contribute chips, clinical software and specialist solutions. Because no single group dominates, partnerships across these categories, such as Hartford HealthCare’s 2022 collaboration with Google Cloud, are likely to shape the next phase of the mHealth market.

What This Means

The mHealth market is growing on a base of devices already in people’s hands, and the 2026 to 2030 stretch carries most of the dollar growth. For businesses, the practical signals are to build for the patient first, plan for consolidation and match regional strategy to local drivers.
